Discover the most popular attraction in Rome – the Colosseum. With this exclusive tour of the Colosseo you will explore the Gladiator Gate, Colosseum Arena, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill.

Passing through the Gladiator’s Gate of the Colosseum, you will walk the same path as the Gladiators did…literally. This side entrance door used exclusively for gladiators reopened in 2016 with limited access.

Admire the Roman Forum, once the site of temples, churches, buildings of the senate and the most important places of the Roman republic, Foro Romano is one of the greatest archaeological sites in history.

After which, you will explore one of the Seven Hills of Rome - Palatine Hill is the most ancient part of the city of Rome.

Behold the iconic symbol of Imperial Rome - the Colosseo. This impressive structure completed in 80 AD is the largest ancient amphitheater ever built.

  • What is the Roman Colosseum?

The Colosseum is an ancient amphitheater located in the city center of Rome, Italy. The largest amphitheater that was ever built and one of the oldest, the Colosseo is where thousands once came together to watch gladiator games, contests, shows, battle re-enactments and executions. Nowadays the Colosseum is one of the most famous and visited monuments as well as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
  • When was the last Gladiator fight in the Roman Colosseum?

Colosseum was on January 1st 404 AD after Emperor Honorius officially and legally banned the contests in 399 AD.
  • How did the Roman Forum get destroyed?

Most of the buildings and monuments in the Ancient Roman Forum were destroyed in 410 AD with the Fall of the Roman Empire. Some of the damage was most likely due to several factors including ransacking and fighting after the decline of the Imperial Roman Empire. But most of the destruction could be contributed to the passage of time, natural elements, and overall neglect. During the Middle ages, it is said the site of the Roman Forum was actually used for grazing animals!
  • What happened to the original floor of the Colosseum?

Much like the Roman Forum, the Colosseum was destroyed over time due to a combination of factors – from natural disasters, the weather, vandalism, and neglect. The original floor of the Colosseum is said to have been removed on purpose after the naval battles that once took place in the arena were discontinued, but there is no solid historical evidence of how exactly (and when) the original Colosseum floor disappeared.

Beyond all expectations!
Our experience on the Collosseum tour was a highlight of our trip. Our guide, Massimo, was extremely knowledgeable, funny, and created a sense of wonder when seeing artifacts/sites that I didn’t know the history of previously. Truly one of the best guided tours in my time traveling! Can not recommend enough!

Adoramos o passeio e o guia

Efficient. Good meeting spot. Prompt. Guide Neomi extremely knowledgeable and had reconstruction and historical pictures to enhance description. Ran over because she was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Unfortunately we had to leave to get our van pickup for trip to ship.

The best guided tour of our trip. Barbara, our guide, was witty, passionate and well versed in the history of Ancient Rome. She made the entire setting - the old palace ruins, the arena - come to life. The pace was just right - 3 hours flashed by without any feeling of being rushed or too slow. Highly recommend.

The tour was very well led by Barbara, our guide. She was very friendly and entertaining, a living and enjoyable enciclopedia on Roman history. Not worth discussing how beautiful Rome and the Colosseum are... Plus, the only opportunity you have to skip the infinite queue and visit the arena.

An excellent experience. To see and hear what happened so many years ago was a WOW moment.
Maria - 21/10/2019 17:59
It was great. We didn’t have to wait with the other thousands of people that were lined up to get in. Our guide had lots of information and was quite funny. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Glenda - 21/10/2019 00:16
Very enthusiastic & knowledgable guide. No wait entry very handy. Gladiators entrance well worth it. They didnt show where wild animals were kept or where gladiators prepared, as advertised, though.

Great tour from start to end, very enjoyable and even better that we skipped the long lines for the colosseum. What really made the tour for me was the guide Laura, not only was she informative on the subject matter, she also delivered the information in a very engaging and jovial way which really brought the group together.
