  • Who painted the Sistine Chapel?

    Master of the Renaissance Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel ceiling – the two most famous frescoes being The Last Judgment and The Creation of Adam. But there are other paintings from great Renaissance artists of that same time that also line the Sistine Chapel walls. These series of frescoes depicting the Life of Moses and the Life of Christ were painted by a team made up of Botticelli, Perugino, Ghirlandaio, and Rosselli.

  • When was St. Peter’s Basilica Built?

    St. Peter’s Basilica was built in 1626, taking 120 years to complete. Construction of the ‘New’ St. Peter’s Basilica that you see today, began in 1506 over the same site of the ‘Old’ St. Peter’s Basilica which dated back to the 4th century.

Your meeting point is inside the Enjoy Rome office – located on Via Germanico 8 (take Metro Line A to the OTTAVIANO stop). Please arrive 25 minutes before the start of your tour to check-in with a member of our staff.

Please note- the meeting point is inside of our office. But for security reasons, we are not able to store any personal belongings at our office – so please plan accordingly.

Please note- the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica maintains a strict dress code year-round. All visitors must have their shoulders covered and pants/skirts must come to the knee. And make sure to wear comfortable shoes!

The Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica has strict security restrictions. Due to metal detectors at the entrances of most attractions it is forbidden to bring the following:
  • Weapons and blunt objects (knives, long umbrellas, etc.)
  • Glass bottles, aerosol sprays, and alcohol
  • Bicycles, skates, and segways
  • Luggage
  • Pets
Large bags and selfie sticks are not allowed in the Vatican. There is a free Vatican cloakroom service once you have gone through the metal detectors. But please keep in mind that there is no bag check at St. Peter’s Basilica. Strollers are permitted.


* Tours departing Wednesday: St. Peter's Basilica will be unavailable due to the weekly Papal Audience during which St. Peter's Basilica is closed. As an alternative you will be offered an extended itinerary within the Vatican Museums, which still includes the Sistine Chapel.

** On rare occasions, St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel closes without notice. If this happens, you will spend a full 3 hour tour in the Vatican Museums.

Private tours are available to meet these and other special needs on request and in advance. 

The Vatican Museums offer free entry to all disabled visitors with certified invalidity of more than 74%. For visitors who are not self-sufficient, free entry is also extended to a companion.

Ho fatto questa visita guidata con la guida Valeria, molto brava. Le cose da vedere sono bellissime, Ovviamente, peccato per l'assurda quantità di visitatori. Fortunatamente il nostro gruppo era piccolo e Valeria è stata molto abile nel farci sistemare di volta in volta in punti strategici, dove abbiamo POTUTO vedere meglio quanto ci stava spiegando. Lo consiglio.

A wonderful and humorous journey through the vatican
Me and the missus had a wonderous tour through the vatican museums, sistine chapel and st. peter's church. Our guide Laura Antonucci provided insightful commentary with a humorous touch which we appreciate. In two and a half hours we learned so much, and everything went smoothly without a hitch. It was a wonderful tour and i would very much enjoy doing it again.

A great Tour!

Fantastic tour
Laura was our tour guide and she certainly Knew her stuff! We went around a Decent pace as a lot to see and fairly crowded - gave some really good detail and BROUGHT history to life with some humour. Make sure you go for an early tour its much less stressful but it will be busy by the time you finish!! Thank you laura

Nous avons visité le Vatican avec notre guide rosalia. Cette visite commentée pleine d'anecdotes et une sélection bien choisie. 3h de visites et pourtant on ne les à pas vues passées. Je recommande cette guidé vraiment géniale.

Informative guide.. good pace throughout and felt like we definitely got our money’s worth. The tour company were also very helpful. Vatican City was closed unexpectedly during our allotted time slot so we had to come back few hours later but they were very accommodating and helped to sort out an issue which was caused as a result. Definitely recommend.
