Wheelchair Accessible Private Vatican Tour

This fabulous tour is specially designed with wheelchair users in mind. Our guide takes you through the most important parts of the Vatican Museums that have wheelchair accessibility - the Pinacoteca Gallery, the Chiaramonti Museum and the Sistine Chapel. This private tour is a truly unique experience, as you explore the amazing sights with a small group. And you can skip the line, allowing you more time to enjoy your Vatican visit.
Highlights
  • Vatican Pinacoteca
This wheelchair only tour of the Vatican Museums begins with a visit to the Pinacoteca Gallery. Known as the Vatican Art Gallery, the Pinacoteca contains some of the most famous masterpieces of the Vatican Museums. The newest addition to the Vatican in 1932, which is so often overlooked, houses a total of 460 works spanning from the Middle Ages through the 1800's. Travel through Pinacoteca's 18 rooms as you explore the lesser-known masterpieces of Raphael, Caravaggio, and Da Vinci.

Q&A
  • How to reserve a wheelchair at the Vatican?

The Vatican offers free wheelchair hire from the cloakroom, which is subject to availability so we would recommend booking it at least a few days in advance, since numbers are limited. To reserve a wheelchair at the Vatican you need to present a valid ID document as well as a deposit.
  • Is the Vatican Wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the Vatican is Wheelchair accessible. Most of the museum spaces are wheelchair accessible and ‘wheelchair friendly’ but it is always best to book a special tour with the proper itinerary route in place prior to your visit to the Vatican.
  • Can I rent a motorized wheelchair to tour the Vatican?

Only traditional wheelchairs are provided at the Vatican, but you can bring your own motorized wheelchair or mobility scooter, as the Vatican Museums are accessible for both.
  • Is Rome Wheelchair friendly?

In general, Rome is a wheelchair friendly city with most of the main attractions of the historic city center being outdoors and relatively close to one another. That being said though, it’s always best to have a guide to getting around i.e. accessible bus routes and stops, the most ideal itineraries, or specialized tours.
  • How to rent a wheelchair in Rome?

You can rent a wheelchair in Rome at some of the main sites and attractions such as the Vatican Museums. There are a number of wheelchair rental companies such as St. Peter’s Basilica Wheelchair, Accessible Italy, and Wheelchair in Italy.
  • How to travel in Rome in a wheelchair?

Because most of the main sights of Rome are either wheelchair accessible and/or outdoors and in the open, you can travel in Rome in a wheelchair. Worth mentioning though for all travelers are the ancient cobblestone streets, which in some areas can be hard to navigate.
  • Is Rome metro wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, some (but not all) of Rome’s metro stops and stations are wheelchair accessible. Many of the Metro stations are still a bit dated and haven’t been updated to the latest standards.

Great Tour by our Guide veronica
I was looking for a tour of Vatican with my senior parents and my dad is on a wheelchair. Found this tour from Enjoy Rome and i was not disappointed. The checkin was smooth and most importantly our tour guide veronica is top notch! She made our tour enjoyable with her knowledge and very fun attitude. She was also very attentive to my parents needs and was not in a rush. Amazing service and worth it. Thanks Veronica and Enjoy Rome!
