Papal Audience Experience with Pope Francis at the Vatican with guided visit

More than just tickets to the papal audience, this guided tour will teach you everything you need to know about the history of the popes of the Vatican.

The Udienza Papale, also known as the General Audience, is a weekly occurrence at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, Rome where the Pope addresses a live and devout audience.

This special experience where the Holy Father, Pope Francis addresses the masses gathered outside St. Peter’s Square is one of the most popular things to do in Rome. So much so that tickets are extremely valuable and even harder to obtain. But this Papal Audience guided tour includes it all - guaranteed tickets and a reservation to witness the Pope at the Vatican as well as a comprehensive tour prior.

Q&A
  • What is the Papal Audience?

The Papal Audience is the weekly address by the Pope in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican. Different than the Papal Mass, the Papal Audience (also called the General Audience) is where the Pope gives a speech to a mass audience in various languages. The Pope’s address consists of readings, teachings, prayers and sometimes songs varying each time. At the end of the audience is the Pope’s Blessing (also known as the Papal Blessing or Apostolic Blessing).
  • How long is it?

The Papal Audience at the Vatican usually lasts about 1 ½ - 2 hours.
  • When is the Papal Audience Mass?

The Papal Audience is every Wednesday starting at 9:30am if the Pope is in Rome. However, some visitors and pilgrims opt to arrive early, sometimes up to 3 hours before as security opens around 7:30am. The Papal Mass is different because it is the Solemn Pontifical High Mass celebrated by the Pope on special occasions and religious holidays.
  • Do I need to buy tickets?

While tickets are free of charge, you still need to reserve a ticket in order to secure your place. Normally tickets to the Papal Audience are difficult to obtain, which is why we recommend reserving tickets 3 to 6 months before your desired date.
  • Can I reserve a seat?

Unfortunately, you cannot. Seats for the Papal Audience are on a first-come first served basis, however buying your ticket in advance and arriving early will allow you quicker entry so you can secure the best spot possible.
  • Can I meet the Pope?

You can see the Pope but not meet him personally. Other chances to see the Pope in Rome are at the Angelus Praying and Papal Blessing on Sundays at the Vatican.
